Legend
Listed individually are the year-by-year driver and car histories of F1 constructors. Constructors are either works teams or chassis suppliers. From every works team that has also entered the F1 World Championship as a private entrant (before and/or after becoming a manufacturer), their private history is also listed to show the full Grand Prix heritage of these teams.
These are the definitions on which these history pages are based:
- Entrant: Single entity entering drivers and cars
- Constructor: Works team/Chassis supplier to private entrants
- Works team: Constructor entering its own cars
- Team: Outfit entering cars for contracted drivers, either works or private
- Private entrant: User of customer chassis, either private team or self-entered
- Private team: Outfit entering customer chassis for contracted drivers
- Self-entered driver: Driver entering car under own name or inviting others to drive or share it
Other things to take notice of:
- '/' in the years 1973-now denotes 'driver/replacement driver' for car with same entry number. Commas separate entries with different car numbers. (For the era 1950-1973, in most cases this denotation is not used due to the more 'chaotic' way GPs were entered...)
- Italics are in use for singling out a group of drivers to whom one or more asterisks (*) apply.
- Drivers between parentheses were entered in one or more GPs in that year but did not take part in any of them (did not qualify, did not start, withdrawn, Friday test entry etc.).
- The winning constructors are presented by order of their number of wins. The also-rans are chronologically presented in order of championships participated.
